Zurich 🇨🇭 one of the most cosmopolitan and dynamic cities in Switzerland, financial capital, industrial and cultural center. Zurich is famous for luxurious lifestyles, high-end shopping and fancy chocolates.
Swiss watch stores are on every corner and Beyer Clock and Watch Museum holds one of the world’s most important private collections of Swiss watches – an impressive insight into a wonderful world of watches and the fascinating art of their manufacture. Loved it there.
Zurich is also home to the largest church clock face in Europe (with a diameter of 8.64m), located on the St Peter’s Church in the middle of the old town.
And all this at the foot of the Swiss Alps. It’s a perfect place to go for a sister’s long weekend away, yes!
We arrived in Zurich by bus from Milano. What a ride! A few hours’ road trip through the Alps is crazily amazing. The change of scenery is really interesting – one moment you are on the edge of a mountain, next moment you are somewhere in a tunnel. Adrenaline was up for a few hours nonstop!
In the city, the most central and crowded place is the Zurichsee promenade (Lake Zurich). This is where locals and tourists spend most of their time during the day. Peaceful, relaxing, inspiring surroundings and views of the mountains are simply breathtaking.
A few minutes from the city by cable car and you are in Felsenegg – the best lookout point in Zurich, which is 804m high and offers fascinating views of the city, the lake, and the Alps.
It’s interesting to hear different languages wherever you go, as there are a few official languages in the country.
The city is clean and beautiful – a perfect weekend getaway. And if you are a party lover, you should definitely join Zurich‘s largest techno parade in Europe, held annually in August. Millions of wildly dressed people fill the streets for the Street Parade to celebrate thumping beats, electronica music and freedom of expression. ✨
