Sister Adventures in Norway. A Winter Wonderland.

Norway 🇳🇴 is cold and snowy – literally a winter wonderland all year round! If you love skiing and snowy adventures, this is the place to be. If not, it still makes for a cool, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

My trip was totally spontaneous and unplanned – I joined a group of friends just days before the flight and dove headfirst into the unknown!

We stayed in a tiny village called Røldal, with only about 350 people. It’s very remote – 5 long hours’ drive from Oslo airport – right in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by majestic mountains. Many Norwegians I met hadn’t even heard of it, so it feels special that I’ve been there and stayed for a few days.

The village sits on the shore of the beautiful Røldalsvatnet lake, known for its crystal-clear water. Nearby is the Røldal Skisenter ski resort. The views of the mountains were absolutely breathtaking – truly magical. The village itself has just one street with a few stores, one church, one hotel – and that’s it. Everything is so perfectly organized, it feels almost unreal, like a movie set. I still can’t believe people live here all their lives!

We explored other nearby villages and towns, saw stunning waterfalls, and visited national parks. We almost made it to the famous Trolltunga, but the weather didn’t cooperate, and the 10+ km hike (one way) was canceled.

Norway is a super developed country where people have everything they need. The locals are nice and friendly. The only downsides? The cold… and the snow! But in return, you get breathtaking views, a chilled atmosphere, and a great quality of life. ✨
